Job Title: Toddler Teacher
Department: Early Childhood Services
Reports to: Director of Early Childhood Services
Job Summary:
We seek a highly qualified teacher who is passionate about caring for young children who are affected by HIV and poverty. As a toddler teacher, you must prepare and deliver classroom activities, communicate with staff and parents, and ensure the learning environment remains safe. To be successful as a toddler teacher, you should be creative, energetic, and able to encourage self-expression. Top candidates fully understand the contextual factors that shape early childhood development.
Requirements:
• 18 years or older
• Must pass background check
Principle Responsibilities:
• Facilitate learning in classroom via appropriate age-level curriculum.
• Create and implement lesson plans, using developmentally appropriate practices.
• Follow a consistent, daily schedule for the classroom.
• Control the environment in the classroom to facilitate positive social skills and learning.
• Communicate with Administration about classroom and/or teacher needs.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy classroom environment.
• Communicate immediate classroom needs with classroom floaters.
• Follow all Hope House rules of classroom etiquette.
• Encourage social, emotional, intellectual, and physical growth.
• Follow Hope House’s Behavior Plan prescribed for the child if one is needed.
• Maintain and update learning centers.
• Initiate and encourage parent/ teacher interaction.
• Provide all bathroom, meal service and other needs of the children appropriately and timely.
• Attend required training sessions.
• Attendance appropriate for position at Hope House.
• Fulfills all other responsibilities necessary for the operation of Hope House.
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or associate degree (recommended).
• Previous experience in a preschool.
• CDA (Child Development Associate) is preferred. Tuition assistance is available for desired candidates seeking CDA credentials.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Compensation:
The range for this position is $35,000-$41,000 based on college education.
We are seeking eligible applicants who will help live out the mission of Hope House which is to improve the quality of life for HIV-affected individuals and their families by providing high quality early childhood education and social services.
